This is a video of an Ancient Japanese art form known as Karakuri. It is a technical craft that developed from western clockwork thousands of years ago. The amazing thing about Karakuri is that the craftsman are able to create movement using minimal amounts of energy. The entire process is based primarily on weight distribution. Some of these Japanese technicians have been able to build functioning robots without electricity. It is painstakingly tedious and requires a great deal of precision. It, however, yields an unbelievable end result. Checkout the video below.

Frank Ocean "Novacane"

This is the new video from New Orleans artist Frank Ocean. Ocean has gained popularity through his work with the "controversial" rap syndicate Odd Future. His most recent video was "She" a collaboration with Tyler the Creator. "Novacane" is a witty narration of an encounter with a young, aspiring female dentist who likes to mix anesthesia with "Herbals". However, it sounds to me like a metaphor for the non-chalant and care-free emotion that accompanies casual sex, drugs, and fast living. But, maybe I'm just reading to much into the video. Regardless of the underlying message, this is some of the best music I've heard in a long time. (But it could be because i'm into young dental students too....)

Sneaker Drop of the year?

This might be the best footwear release that I've seen so far this spring. I'll be damned, it's from nike! The first two color ways (red & blue) are from fragment design and feature a wool, swoosh-less upper. The second two come in olive green and honey brown with a suede upper. The color on the last two pairs are a work of art in my opinion, or maybe it's the lighting in the photo. Whatever the case may be, this is nike at their best.

I dunno what I think about this one. I'm not the biggest fan of the cut on a Thom Brown shirt, (I'm more of a Band of Outsider guy when it comes to fit) but I'm kinda feelin the colors and the texture of the Chambre fabric. I'm also a die hard supreme fan, so I like just about all of their collabs. Although supreme has been linking up with contemporary mens lines lateley (A.P.C., visvim, Sophnet, to name a few) this is a weird combination in my opinion.

Although these shoes may not bee out in-time for you yo look fresh this summer, it's still hot news. Hypebeast just published articles on both these releases. The first being a "Red Hot" Supreme x Nike Air Trainer. There's not much info on the collab, so stay tuned for more info. The second shoe is a 90's classic, the OG Air Structures. I'm already a big fan of the Nike Free Trainer, but these collaborations with Sophnet are crazy. The shoe has a leather upper, and a basic frame. There simple, but "oh so sick". I'm going to be working on finding out how I can get my hands on these. You should be doing the same.

Check out this video of the Ksubi store in Soho. I've never actually been to the store myself, but I know the owner and I promised him that I would stop in. From the video, the store looks like it has the feeling, of an old, oversized, oakwood wardrobe closet. Just add the crazy-hippster australian appearal, and you've got a really nice shop. My favorite thing is the suspended dressing room in the center of the store. Just watch the video and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Nike is releasing a retro version of the Nike air tech Challenge retro, a shoe worn by Andre Agassi in the early 90's. These Kicks are nuts and are here just in time for summer. Huf is working on some new gear to supplement their vans "3 Feet High" project. The package includes a tee shirt and matching cap in two alternating black and white colorways. The gear compliments the black leather sneakers with white midsole and lime green bottoms (check January 30th post). The gear is hot and expected to drop around the same time as the shoes.

Move over iphone, South Korean cell phone giant LG hooked up with fashion powerhouse Prada. The phone is equipped with a full functioning touch screen, a two megapixel camera phone, and USB connectivity. LG hopes to give the iphone a run, however it probably won't happen in the US seeing as it is only dropping in select european and Asian countries. Levis Lawsuit against major denim companies

Denim Giant Levis Strauss is moving from the shuttle looms to the court room these days. In a recent issue of the NY Times there was an article on the number of lawsuits being filed by Levis against it's competitors. The historic denim company has been slinging lawsuits in record numbers since 2001 for a number of instances of copyright infringement.
